This week we were very bust preparing for the fashion show that was being held in the Celbridge Manor Hotel. On Tuesday a few of us who had volunteered to help out went to the hotel to paint the catwalk. It was almost unrecognizable after we had finished. A few of us who were still working on it stayed a bit longer than everyone else. We stapled the material to the catwalk with a stapler (I got very good at using it I must say) after that we were finished and the place was almost ready for the fashion show that night. It went on for two nights and it was very successful and everyone enjoyed it.
We are also very busy with our mini-companies. Our mini-company is called ''Cache'', we make mini coin purses with an attachable key-chain. They come in many different designs and patterns.

This week we went to Carton House to see the ''Vanishing Art'' exhibition, the art was very good and interesting. The Irish rugby team were on the grounds training so we went down to see if we could meet them and get a picture, we saw them and they said hello and that they'd be out to see us after their training session. But sadly our bus was going before they had finished so we didn't get to meet them :( but it was really good fun waiting for them haha

Mini-Company & Road Safety!
This week we are busy working on our mini-company product. The person from student enterprise came in on Tuesday and we told her how we were getting on with our product. My product is called ''Cache'', it is a mini coin purse with an attachable key ring on it, it comes in lots of different patterns and designs. It will be on sale in the science corridor very soon! At the moment we only have a couple made, but we are going to try and get enough made for the fashion show in Celbridge Manor at the end of the month, we are being allowed to sell our products on a stall there, which is a great opportunity so I really hope we are prepared for it. We have to make the posters for our product as well as social media pages such as Facebook and Twitter.
We had a road safety talk on Thursday, there was a Garda in to show us a powerpoint and talk to us about it. It really opened my eyes as to how dangerous the road can be, there was a good few videos on the impact a crash has on people, and there was also devastating stories about families who have to deal with loved ones who passed away due to unsafe driving. He told us the role that the Road Safety Unit has and what jobs they carry out there. Their program is called ''It Won't Happen To Me'' which in my opinion is a very good name because when people hear about road accidents the think ''it wont happen to me'' but in fact it can if they dont drive safely.

Mid-term and Halloween!
Friday, 17 October 2014
This week on Monday my Home.Ec class did our sewing, we are sewing a teddy bear. We had to cut out all the pieces of fabric that would make the teddy and sew them together, mine will be blue with different patterns on it. We also had work experience on Wednesday. We also have a lot of projects to do, In art we are focusing on leaves, we have to draw a still life drawing of a leaf in different medians (shading, colouring pencil and ink) and at the end of all our preps we have to make a clay tile with engraving on it. In geography we are doing power point projects on a European country, mine is Greece. I'm learning a lot more about this country then I knew before. For maths we had to take a picture of an object that had maths in it (e.g parallell lines, angles or shapes) I took a photo of my brothers amplifier as it had a number of shapes on it (circles&squares), and in Irish we are doing a project on the Gaeltacht, we have to write about what Gaeltachts are and where they are situated in Ireland, we also got counties in which we had to focus more on, I got Kerry. It's safe to say that in TY there is a lot of projects to be done!

We won the fun walk!
This week we had the fun walk, this is where every year group is given a colour and the classes within that year have to make up a dance, perform it in front of the school and then we all go on a walk. 1st years were pink, 2nd year blue, 3rd year green, TY yellow, 5th year blue and 6th year black & white. The whole school gathered around in the basketball court to watch the classes performing, the years all went in order, We danced to wham ''Wake me up before you go go'' and we were either good people or bad people, the good people had to make the bad people good, its kind of hard to explain but i thought our dance was really good, also our tutor dressed up as a witch which was very funny. When it came to our class, Aurora to perform we were all nervous but we performed really well, so well that we ended up winning out of all the Ty classes. I couldn't believe it when i heard it on the intercom this morning, class Aurora is the best ;) We also had the start of the school year mass were my music class, another ty music class and some fifth years had to sing in the choir. We also had our second day of work experience this week which I really enjoyed.

JC Results!
Wednesday was the big day, we got our Junior Cert results, we had to be in school before 12 O'Clock and go to the hall where we would get our results. I was so nervous as I waited to get the brown envelope but I was relieved when I saw what I got, I'd say that everybody did very well and tried their hardest to get the result they wanted. Everybody had a great night celebrating (only to be tired the next day!) We were congratulated by our teachers and now the weight is off our shoulders. We are really looking forward to our trip to Carlingford on Monday, we will be doing lots of fun outdoor activities such as kayaking and more. We are getting the bus on Monday morning bright and early (7 O'Clock) and making our way to Carlingford.
